Payload Multiplayer Map Breakdown for Black Ops 4
Payload is one of the most popular maps in rotation in Black Ops 4 Multiplayer, so it’d help to know the in’s and out’s before jumping in.
According to our own polling, Payload happens to be the least liked map out of Black Ops 4’s initial offering. However, that doesn’t hold back Call of Duty expert, ‘TheXclusiveAce‘, from breaking down the map and delivering us some sweet tips on how to up our game on Payload.
For team based modes, Ace highlights the hotspots on the map in red. Around the B domination flag at both entrances to the main room as well as the elevated positions surrounding them. When one team starts pushing towards the other team, expect to see those hotspots grow in size.
In general, this is where the action goes down on Payload. The bottom half and middle of the map are all essentially flanking routes for the main hotspots.
In terms of good lines of sight, there are several key spots you should worry about. By the C domination point there is a great corner that is often guarded by enemy players who control B and A. To pick these foes off, just jump on the structure and peak around the corner as shown in the above picture.
Ace also suggests to avoid obvious spots like the area directly across the window on the A side of the B point. Instead, position yourself at an alternative angle so you can still see the enemy, but they can’t see you.
If the enemy controls B and C, then the best spot to shoot from on the A side would be this crate seen below. Rather than peak from the left or right, jump halfway onto this structure and you are well protected from enemy fire while still well situated.
Moving on to the spawn points for Payload, the primary spawns are where you would expect them behind the A and C points. As for the secondary spawns, they’re pretty deep into the map which is a little unusual.
Keep note, if you’re spawning in one of these secondary spawns, you most definitely have an enemy in your spawn area.
